Video: Three rescued after Alabama sport fishing boat catches fire
BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Three people were rescued after a sport fishing boat caught fire Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Gulf Shores Police Department responded to the scene off of Fort Morgan near Plash Island around 1:30 p.m.
According to a detective with GSPD, recreational jet skiers performed the rescue and got the boaters out of the water. They were then taken to Lulu's Gulf Shores restaurant.
No injuries have been reported.
Other agencies, including Bon Secour Fire Rescue, Oyster Bay Fire Department, Orange Beach Fire Rescue, and Gulf Shores Fire Rescue, also assisted.
Gulf Shores Police believe the fire started in the engine due to mechanical difficulties.
Officials said the fire took around 30 minutes to put out.
