Five Tottenham players who could make the difference against Bodo/Glimt

Tottenham face a crunch European tie against Bodo/Glimt, and with the stakes so high, five key players could be crucial if Spurs are to get the job done. Here are the five Tottenham Hotspur players who could make the difference against Glimt.

The clash against Bodo/Glimt on 1 May 2025 is set to be one of three possible big games remaining for Tottenham this season.

Indeed, the home leg could massively decide this tie, and should Spurs fall short at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Bodo/Glimt’s impressive home record suggests that Tottenham could kiss the finals goodbye.

Of course, against Frankfurt, Ange Postecoglou’s side showed that they themselves are capable of getting a result away from home; however, given their inconsistencies this season, it would be hard to back this group.

But if they are to get a result over the two legs, a fair few players have to step up – and here are our five picks.

Dominic Solanke must find goals for Tottenham against Bodo/Glimt

If Tottenham are going to get anything from the tie over the two legs, Dominic Solanke needs to start finding the back of the net on a regular basis.

The signs coming into this tie have been positive, as the forward has managed two goals in his last two starts. However, his record in 2025 with just three goals so far this calendar year is far from good enough.

That has to change. The forward needs to get into consistent scoring form, and should he do that over the two legs, then Spurs can begin to dream about the final.

James Maddison needs to step up his creativity for Tottenham

James Maddison is another player Spurs would be hoping brings his A-game against Bodo/Glimt in the next two ties.

Maddison is, of course, a player with huge quality, and we have seen it already this campaign, with the midfielder popping up with vital goal contributions in the Europa League.

We saw him get a goal and an assist against AZ Alkmaar, and he was the one who won the penalty against Frankfurt in the second leg.

An improvement on these two performances would be very much welcomed against Glimt. The Englishman needs to get on the ball more and dictate the game if Spurs are to get something out of this clash.

Dejan Kulusevski must rediscover rhythm to boost Spurs chances

Dejan Kulusevski has been Tottenham’s best player this season, but his last injury has since halted his momentum a little bit.

The Swede needs to find his rhythm once more for the final stretch of the season. He would most definitely be doing most of his work from the right if Maddison is to create from the centre.

The midfielder would need to bring extra creativity and more running to that side of the pitch, because for all of Brennan Johnson’s goalscoring exploits this campaign, Spurs need more from their wingers.

Kulusevski would need to bring that. If he can get into a nice rhythm, then Tottenham’s chances would increase.

Lucas Bergvall needs to be tidy for Tottenham in midfield battle

Lucas Bergvall has been immense for Tottenham this season, particularly in the second half of the campaign.

However, while he has been brilliant, the midfielder has the occasional error in his game where his touch and passing are sometimes loose.

His occasional errors have already cost Tottenham at times this season, with the most recent coming in the Premier League against Wolves.

Tottenham would need a near-perfect performance from their players over the two legs, and Bergvall’s role in the middle of the field means those errors would need to be eliminated.

Cristian Romero needs to keep Bodo/Glimt star Hogh quiet for Spurs

Bodo/Glimt have the Europa League’s top scorer in their side with Hogh. He is their main threat – he has been a serious danger in the competition this season.

Of course, if Spurs are to have a chance of getting past the semis, much of that would depend on keeping Hogh quiet. Cristian Romero would need to put in a major shift against the centre-forward.

The Argentine would have to be extra switched on at Glimt’s own stadium, where Hogh has done most of his damage, scoring six of his seven goals at the Aspmyra Stadion.
