Teen fined hundreds of dollars for doing donuts in Choctaw Creek Park
CHOCTAW, Okla. (KFOR) — Choctaw Police say a teen has been fined just under $600 for doing donuts and driving recklessly in the middle of Choctaw Creek Park.
The incident happened Saturday afternoon. The Choctaw Police Department quickly identified the person behind the wheel as an 18-year-old.
Dennis Aldridge was at the park when the incident happened, witnessing the truck circle around at a high rate of speed.
"Well, when everything started happening, you see the tires beating in the dirt," said Aldridge.
The Choctaw Police Department took to Facebook, sending a message to the community about the dangers of off-roading.
Turfing and damaging public property is not a victimless crime. Choctaw Creek Park is used daily by residents, families, and visitors. It hosts countless events throughout the year, from holiday celebrations and car shows to craft fairs and community gatherings, across its parking lots, pavilions, and grassy areas.
Whether the individual responsible was 16 or 80 years old, actions have consequences. You cannot damage property and expect there to be no repercussions. Our Parks Department works tirelessly to maintain these spaces for everyone to enjoy, and acts of vandalism are deeply disrespectful to their efforts and to the community as a whole.
We understand that off-roading can be fun, but there are appropriate places for those activities, public parks are not one of them.

Bella Kilgo also frequents the park with her younger sister and family. She saw the video circulating on social media and described being in shock.
"I was flabbergasted. I think there's plenty of places to do it, instead of a park where there's a bunch of kids," said Kilgo.
Authorities are in the process of assessing the damage. Officers say there's a possibility for more charges to be filed.
