One of Taylor Swift’s Ex’s Curt Response to Her Revenge Track May Show Where They Stand Today
Taylor Swift’s four-year-old song is still popping up on her ex’s feed, and he gave a rather blunt response to it. Earlier this week, Joe Jonas uploaded a TikTok of himself strolling through the streets of London looking dapper in a gray suit. Now, a fan went to the comment section saying, “so dignified in his well-pressed suit.” While this may seem like a compliment, it’s actually a line from Swift’s 2021 song “Mr. Perfectly Fine.”
He replied, saying, “Thanks for noticing.” Now, we don’t know if he knows the reference or not. If he does, then it was a classy clapback, and if not, it means he never looked at Swift’s new songs.
(Now, it’s very likely he knows this song because in 2021, he was still with his now-ex-wife Sophie Turner, who’s always been a huge Swiftie and even played music Swift wrote about Jonas.)
We’re taking it back 17 years with this one. Swift and Jonas, who were both 18 at the time, dated from July 2008 to Oct 2008, first meeting when she performed with the Jonas Brothers during their Burnin’ Up Tour.
And then, Jonas dumped Swift over the phone with a 25-second call. Swift confirmed this on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying, “You know what, it’s like, when I find that person that is right for me, he’ll be wonderful. When I look at that person, I’m not even going to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”
Then, following that, Swift spoke to UsMagazine about the split the same month, claiming Jonas’ relationship with Camilla Belle was the reason for their breakup.
“They’ve been together since we broke up,” she said. “That’s why we broke up — because he met her.”
(Jonas was with actress Belle from Oct 2008 to July 2009, splitting up on good terms. They first met in Sept 2008 on the set of the Jonas Brothers’ “Lovebug” music video, per People.)
Obviously, they’ve both moved on, but Swift has written quite a few songs about their brief romance:
- “Forever & Always:” Swift confirmed this song was about Jonas back in 2008 on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
- “Better Than Revenge”
- “Last Kiss”
- “Holy Ground”
- “You All Over Me”
- “Mr. Perfectly Fine”
