UB's Shaun Dolac signs with LA Rams
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Shaun Dolac, the Western New York linebacker who was a consensus All-American for University at Buffalo this past season, signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams following the conclusion of the NFL draft.
A finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy given to the nation's best player who started his career as a walk-on, the West Seneca native developed into the defensive player of the year in the Mid-American Conference and led the nation in tackles during his senior season.
Despite his on-field production, Dolac was not invited to the Senior Bowl or NFL scouting combine, but raised his draft stock with an impressive performance at UB's pro day. He was thought to have a chance of being drafted in the seventh round, and quickly reached an agreement with the Rams, who earlier in the day drafted inside linebacker Chris Paul Jr. from Mississippi in the fifth round.
Additonally, UB wide receiver Taji Johnson was invited to rookie minicamp by the New York Jets, and punter Ethan Duane received a rookie camp invitation from the Buffalo Bills.
