Discontinued McDonald’s menu items ‘return’ to UK as eagle-eyed shoppers scramble to fill their trolleys

A DISCONTINUED McDonald’s menu item has made a highly anticipated “return” as shoppers scramble to fill their trolleys.

The legendary menu favourite has landed in a British supermarket after a year of diners pleading for their return.

What shoppers believe are Halloumi Fries, Mozzarella bites, and Mayo Chicken burgers have arrived at Company Shop.

One eagle-eyed customer spotted the Maccies treats in the freezer section and immediately filled up their basket.

They posted a video on TikTok with the caption: “OMG look at all the McDonalds food in the company shop today.”

The footage shows a series of different frozen items similar to those on the McDonalds.

Piles of Halloumi fries, Mozzarella bites and a patty called Chicken Nuggets Tempura were all on display in the supermarket freezers.

Thrilled shoppers were quick to take to the comment section to find out how to get their hands on the fast food goods.

One keen customer asked: “Can anyone go into this shop and buy stuff?”

Another commented a series of dribbling emojis.

A third queried: “Can anyone go in this shop and buy stuff?”

The Halloumi Fries are mouthwatering, salty, cheese sticks covered in a thick crunchy crust.

They were cut from the menu in April last year, much to the dismay of diners.

Customers shared their disappointment online when the announcement came through.

One said: “I’ve been dreaming of the Halloumi Fries.”

Another wrote: “Please make Halloumi Fries permanent.

Mozzarella bites however are similar and are still available at the restaurant – they’re deep-fried pieces of the popular cheese covered in breadcrumbs served up with tomato sauce.

Thankfully these and the Mayo Chicken remain firmly on the McDonalds menu.

Those keen to get their hands on the iconic burger get a crispy coated chicken with crunchy lettuce, a soft bun and, of course, cool mayonnaise.

By picking up a pack of patty’s you’ll be able to recreate this legendary dish at home.

All you need is a pack of the Chicken Nuggets Tempura, a bun, some lettuce and sauce, and you’re good to go.

What’s more, is that the home-made burger will likely be a fraction of the price.

Company Shop sells a huge range of surplus stock at shockingly low prices including products from M&S, Tesco and Waitrose.

It picks up these items for a range of reasons including overproduction, mislabelling, or changes to packaging, but they’re all safe to eat and taste just as good.

The items are still perfectly useable and are sold at a discounted price.

However, all the food sent to the UK-wide chain is repackaged and sold unbranded – so you’re not able to tell which of your favourite restaurant or supermarket it was originally destined for.

You might not realise exactly what you’re purchasing as you’ll take it home without the label, but one savvy shopper is confident they saw the iconic McDonalds menu items.

How to save at McDonald's

You could end up being charged more for a McDonald's meal based solely on the McDonald's restaurant you choose.

Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30% cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other.

You can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 at any time by filling in a feedback survey found on McDonald’s receipts.

The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey.

You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.

There are some deals and offers you can only get if you have the My McDonald’s app, so it’s worth signing up to get money off your meals.

The MyMcDonald’s app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up.

You can also bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re a My McDonald’s app user.

The chain has recently sent out reminders to app users to fill out their birthday details – otherwise they could miss out on birthday treats.
