Eliot Wolf Credits Collaboration For Patriots’ Successful Draft

The New England Patriots added a combination of explosiveness, athleticism and talent to the organization with the 11 players they selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.

While it’s challenging to predict how and when each player will impact the franchise, the process itself appeared much more cohesive compared to previous drafts.

Speaking after the seventh round wrapped, Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf explained how collaboration within the organization made things much more seamless during this draft.

“I thought the process was phenomenal,” Wolf said during his virtual press conference. “The collaboration with the scouting staff, the coaching staff, nutrition, football operations, everyone, everything was great.”

Wolf noted that the experience of head coach Mike Vrabel, vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden, and vice president of football operations and strategy John Streicher made a difference in the collaboration compared to even last year’s draft.

“I just think the whole vision for the team was really good,” he said. “Not that we didn’t have that last year, or with Bill (Belichick) previously, but there was a lot of clear communication between Vrabel and our staff. He was around a lot in our meetings. It was just a really good process.

“And this is on me from last year. We just didn’t have an organized enough process, and Ryan Cowden and Coach Vrabel and Stretch really came in and helped me organize this. I think we’re going to have a productive group.”

The Patriots added several complementary pieces to the existing roster by focusing on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball in the draft.

“I think it all came to fruition this weekend, and I think we were really able to help the team out,” Wolf. “As far as what we tried to accomplish, it was filling some holes that we had, and increasing the depth and competition on the roster with the right type of people.”
