Chicago man charged with possession of child pornography
A 29-year-old Chicago man has been charged with possession of child pornography after dozens of sexually explicit videos and images were found on his cellphone, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Saturday.
Marcos Fuentes-Robledo, 29, of the West Elsdon neighborhood, was arrested on Friday and charged with one felony count of dissemination of child pornography and one felony count of possession of child pornography. Judge Antara Nath Rivera ordered him detained awaiting trial, and not to have contact with any children younger than 13 if he was released before the end of the case.
"The defendant is out there looking," Rivera said. "One image is one too many. ... He poses a threat to all the victims in his bookmarks."
In October, the Sheriff’s Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about someone who uploaded images containing child pornography on social media. Investigators confirmed the content on the account contained child pornography and that the account allegedly belonged to Fuentes-Robledo.
Subpoenas to Google, Yahoo and T-Mobile confirmed his connection to the account alleged to have been used to exchange child pornography, including at least four videos and images of girls under the age of 13 with distinct "child-like features," prosecutors said. Several of the emails, including one associated with his work, as well as a phone number on his sister's phone account were ultimately traced back to him from the accounts alleged to have exchanged the images and videos.
He had also bookmarked several sites with references to child pornography and underage children.
On April 3, Fuentes-Robledo admitted to investigators to viewing child pornography on his cellphone. Forensic analysis of the phone discovered about two dozen sexually explicit videos and images involving children, the sheriff said.
He is scheduled back in court Tuesday.
