Tottenham can still climb into Premier League top-half even with Liverpool defeat
Tottenham Hotspur are rank outsiders to finish in the top half of the Premier League table, but finishing 10th is still not impossible for the Lilywhites, even if they taste defeat at Anfield.
While Tottenham’s main focus will be on winning the Europa League and breaking their 17-year trophy drought, Ange Postecoglou will also want a respectable finish in the Premier League table.
The Australian would certainly not want to become the first Spurs manager since 2008 to fail to finish in the top 10.
While that task might be difficult if the Lilywhites get beaten at Anfield this Sunday, as they are expected to, it will be far from impossible.

How Tottenham can finish 10th even if they lose on Sunday
It is very tight between 13th and 17th in the Premier League table, with three teams directly above Spurs – Wolves, Manchester United and Everton – sitting on 38 points, just a point more than the North London club.
While finishing in 13th place is thus very realistic for Tottenham, they can set their aims even higher. If Spurs lose to Liverpool, they could still get 49 points if they are to win their final four league games against West Ham, Palace, Aston Villa and Brighton.
If Postecoglou’s men manage that and if Wolves, United and Everton only manage 11 points from their final five games, the North Londoners will overhaul them in the table.
Perhaps the most unlikely thing in this scenario is for Palace to get only a maximum of four points in their final five games, which will be needed for Tottenham to sneak into 10th place.

Ange Postecoglou will first want to avoid unwanted records
Finishing in the top half seems like a far-fetched dream for Spurs at the moment, given that they are unable to even pick up wins at home in the Premier League.
Tottenham are currently on course to achieve their lowest-ever points tally in the Premier League, which is the first unwanted record that Postecoglou will want to avoid.
Additionally, Spurs have already lost more games than in any other 38-game campaign, and if they lose two more, it will be the most losses ever recorded by the Lilywhites in any Premier League season.
