Over 600 mice and snakes recovered in Queensbury arrest
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Warren County Sheriff's deputies made an arrest earlier this month in a Queensbury animal abuse investigation. Thomas Goodspeed, 36, was charged with five counts of failure to provide proper sustenance.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office conducted a search at a house on Moose Hollow Way in Queensbury on April 9 after receiving tips that hundreds of animals were reportedly being kept there in poor living conditions. Deputies located 126 snakes and around 500 mice in the home.
Law enforcement consulted representatives of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), who deemed the animals' condition to be in violation of New York State Agriculture and Markets Law due to lack of nourishment and proper care. All the animals have since been seized and are in the custody of the ASPCA.
Goodspeed was released on an appearance ticket after being processed. He's scheduled to return to the Queensbury Town Court at a later date.
