Washburn University announces several summer camp opportunities
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Summer is right around the corner and kids in the community are getting the chance to learn more about their interests firsthand.
Washburn University is hosting summer camps for kids of all ages. Attendees can pick from several different subjects and sports. Professionals will teach classes catered to each person's individual interests.
Washburn says this is a good way to keep kids involved throughout the summer.
"By the end of the camp they have a tendency to want to go and learn more and keep practicing their instrument," said Director of Jazz Camp and Associate Professor at Washburn Craig Treinen. "And I think it's a great, great opportunity for them to keep developing over the summer."
"Cardboard creations and do an entire cardboard city sort of a thing, we have paper weaving," said Arts Education Coordinator, Stacy Ash. "In the past we made DIY chalk and Play-Doh. A lot of nature painting, some indoors, some outdoors."
Summer camp opportunities include art, athletics, music, career exploration and more. Additional information on the camps can be found here.
