Lake Charles man indicted for rape in alleged Jan. 31 crime spree
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A Lafayette grand jury has indicted a Lake Charles man on eight counts of rape, part of an alleged multi-parish crime spree on Jan. 31.
Shannon Morris, 36, of Lake Charles was indicted Wednesday in the 15th Judicial District Court on eight counts of first degree rape and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the indictment, Morris allegedly raped a women identified only as "NS" eight times on Jan. 31. He allegedly possessed a Glock 22mm gun after having previously been convicted of home invasion.
Morris was arrested the same day in connection with a string of armed robberies in Iowa, Crowley, Rayne, Acadia Parish and Lafayette Parish.
He was captured in Lafayette Parish Jan. 31 and charged with aggravated battery, carjacking, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of armed robbery.
