04/25/2025: Warm Once More, But Turning Rainy & Cooler
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
Friday is one more warm one with isolated shower chances and filtered sun, but we turn unsettled and cooler right in time for the weekend. If you've liked the little taste of summer this week, it returns in a hurry - highs are back near 70 by Monday.
Temperatures surge close to 80 degrees despite limited, filtered sunshine and the threat for a few showers here and there. Winds will pick up this afternoon, gusting to around 30 MPH. Get used to the breeze for a bit, as it will be with us into early next week.
A few showers are anticipated overnight, becoming more widespread in the early morning hours of Saturday.
Despite the rain, temperatures will stay in the upper 50s to near 60 as the humidity creeps up slightly, helping keep the temperatures elevated.
Saturday isn't a total wash, but we will wake up with clouds and widespread, locally heavy rain. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible. The PM hours are drier, but guidance is on board with another round of showers and thunderstorms coming through into the evening.
Temperatures will be cooler, mainly in the 60s for afternoon highs despite the warm start.
A few showers, especially in the northern mountains (where some wet snow may mix in!), will continue overnight into Sunday. Sunday is easily the better of the two weekend days, but it will still be a bit unsettled.
Temperatures take a hit for Sunday as well, with afternoon highs only in the 50s. Additionally, winds will gust as high as 40 MPH with more clouds than sun. The sun returns with force on Monday. The winds also diminish as afternoon highs rise to near 70 degrees.
Tuesday is even warmer with thickening late-day clouds with the mercury climbing to around 80 or so. A cold front will sweep through Tuesday night/early Wednesday, with a few lingering showers possible during Wednesday's AM hours. By Thursday, we anticipate dry, cooler weather. 66, our forecast high for Thursday, is actually below normal by then, which is the first of May!
