Troy gang member sentenced for fentanyl, gun charges
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- 26-year-old Richawn McClain was sentenced to 11 years and five months in prison on Friday for several drug trafficking and gun charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced. The Troy man pleaded guilty last December.
In his plea, McClain, an admitted leader in the Young Gunnerz and 380 gangs, confessed to possessing around 900 fentanyl pills and over an ounce of cocaine, all of which he had intended to sell. During his January 2024 arrest, he was also found to have a modified machine pistol and over $22,000 in drug sale money.
In addition to his prison time, U.S. District Judge Mae D’Agostino issued McClain a four-year term of probation after his release and ordered him to cease all contact with his former gangs. McClain was also required to forfeit the drug money and his firearm.
The investigation leading to McClain's sentencing was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Reiner prosecuted the case.
