Sydney Sweeney to star in Split Fiction game adaptation from Jon M. Chu
Sydney Sweeney has added another big movie to her busy schedule. The Emmy-nominated Euphoria star has signed on to star in an adaptation of video game Split Fiction from director Jon M. Chu (Wicked) and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool & Wolverine). The project is being produced by Story Kitchen, which also produces the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Split Fiction is about two authors, Mio and Zoe, who get trapped inside their stories and have to work together to get out.
Netflix releases Sirens trailer
Netflix dropped the trailer for Sirens, the upcoming five-episode limited series starring Academy Award winner Julianne Moore, Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), and Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon). The dark comedy thriller is written by Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) and directed by Nicole Kassell (Watchmen). Here's the logline: "Devon (Fahy) thinks her sister Simone (Alcock) has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell (Moore). Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention, but she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be. Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish island estate, Sirens is an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class." Margot Robbie's LuckyChap produces. The series premieres on May 22.
Tom Hanks making Greyhound 2
Tom Hanks has written and will reprise his role as Captain Krause in a sequel to his 2020 World War II film Greyhound. The sequel will follow the crew of the USS Keeling, aka Greyhound, from the beaches of Normandy during D-Day to the Pacific Theater. Director Aaron Scheider and producer Gary Goetzman will return, and costars Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, and Elizabeth Shue are in talks. The film is slated to shoot in Australia early next year.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag developing a project about losing their home during L.A. wildfires
Reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag say they are developing a project for Hulu about losing their home in the Pacific Palisades during the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year, though a series is not officially in the works yet. “The music would be part of it, our family life, our dynamic, our team,” Montag said. The couple is currently living in Santa Barbara with their children, and they're unsure if they'll rebuild their Palisades home.
Yellowjackets finale reaches 3 million viewers as Season 3 becomes most-streamed season
The Season 3 finale of Emmy-nominated survival drama Yellowjackets was watched by three million viewers in the first week of release on linear Showtime and Paramount+ streaming, according to streaming service Paramount, a 19 percent increase overall and 54% increase on streaming specifically from the Season 2 finale. The episode is the most-streamed episode in Yellowjackets history.
