Alexandria man's death from assault ruled homicide
ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the death of a 58-year-old man who died from injuries sustained in an assault earlier this month, now ruled a homicide.
Officers responded to the 100 block of MacArthur Drive at approximately 2:13 a.m. April 12, following reports of a battery. The victim, identified as Jerry Chesser, was located and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Chesser succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, April 22. An autopsy conducted the following day confirmed that his death was a result of the assault and officially ruled a homicide.
APD detectives are actively pursuing leads and are requesting the public’s assistance in gathering information related to this case.
