Sulphur resident arrested for alleged relationship with minor
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) -- A Sulphur man has been arrested regarding an alleged inappropriate relationship with a juvenile.
Officials said Austin Anderson, 30, of Sulphur, was arrested in connection to the alleged relationship.
On Feb. 10, while executing an arrest warrant on Anderson for charges stemming from a theft investigation, Calcasieu Parish authorities said they located a girl under the age of 16 inside the residence with Anderson. Inconsistencies in the statements provided by Anderson and the girl raised concerns for authorities. The girl was released to her mother and an investigation continued.
Officials searched the girl's phone after learning an anonymous tip that was previously submitted to CPSO alleged a possible inappropriate relationship between Anderson and the juvenile.
Officials said they observed numerous text messages between the girl and Anderson. The messages confirmed Anderson was aware of her age. Officials said some messages were sexual in nature as well as requests from Anderson for the girl to purchase marijuana for them.
On April 10, CPSO officials issued a warrant for Anderson’s arrest. On April 21, officials located Anderson, who they said initially provided a false name. Officials said after they identified him, Anderson resisted arrest by pulling away and refusing to comply with commands.
Anderson was booked into a Calcasieu Parish jail and charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile contributing to the delinquency of a minor, resisting an officer and resisting by refusal to identify.
His total bond is set at $169,000.
