Albany man sentenced in Walgreens robbery
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- An Albany man was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison for robbing a Walgreens store in October. According to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, Ray Richardson, 57, robbed the store with a butcher knife.
On October 2, 2024, police say Richardson entered the Walgreens at 41 Holland Avenue, showed the attendant a butcher's knife and demanded the cashier to empty the register drawer. Richardson then left the store with the money.
Police arrested him later that night. On Feb. 20, he pleaded guilty to robbery in the first degree.
In addition to 12 years, Richardson will serve a five-year post-release supervision term.
