Dr Michael Mosley’s son Dr Jack makes This Morning debut 10 months after TV star’s tragic death

DR MICHAEL Mosley’s son, Dr Jack, has made his This Morning debut, 10 months after his famous dad’s tragic death.

The beloved TV star collapsed on a walk under the scorching Greek sun after taking a wrong turn.

It is understood Dr Mosley had no phone or means of contacting anyone during his trek after reportedly leaving his mobile at the holiday home.

The broadcaster and author vanished while out for a walk on the Greek island of Symi, sparking a massive search and rescue effort.

He was discovered dead early on a Sunday morning in June of last year.

Before his heartbreaking death, Dr Michael regularly appeared on This Morning as a TV doctor sharing advice with viewers.

Now, his son Dr Jack has made an appearance, on Thursday’s episode.

Continuing his father’s legacy, Jack spoke to This Morning hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.

Ben said: “Your dad was passionate about helping people with healthy lifestyle, weight loss, understanding the world of gaining weight, losing weight, and of course he was robbed from you as a family so dramatically.

“I wonder how you’re all coping with him not being there?”

Jack responded, saying: “It’s been a really tough time for the whole family.

“We were blown away by the outpouring of grief from so many millions of people around the world.

“It shows how much of an impact he had on all of these people – whether it was inspiring healthy lifestyle choices or helping reverse their diabetes or lose weight.”

Jack was on the show too to promote his first book Food Noise, which was recently published.

And Dr Michael’s wife shared support for her son on social media, with an emotional tribute.

She said: “Today is a special and emotional day for our family.

“Jack’s first book, Food Noise, is officially published.

“As many of you know, Michael dedicated his life to making science accessible, helping people take charge of their health with empathy, humour, and evidence-based advice. Jack grew up surrounded by that passion – dinner-table debates about the latest science, conversations about the latest research, and endless questions about how we eat and why.

“Now, Jack steps forward with his own voice.”

Following Dr Michael’s death, his This Morning co-stars paid tribute.

Former This Morning panelist and TALK presenter Julia Hartley Brewer was one of the first to pay tribute to the TV doctor.

She wrote: “This is very sad news.”

Before adding: “I interviewed Michael Mosley a few times about his Fast800 diet and he was an absolutely lovely man. My condolences to his family.”

The official account of This Morning on X – formerly known as Twitter – wrote a heartfelt tribute to the expert on their profile.

The account wrote: “We’re all heartbroken to hear that Michael Mosley has died at the age of 67.

“His wife Clare has paid tribute to her “wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband”. Everyone at This Morning is thinking of Clare, their four children and the rest of Michael’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.”

Former This Morning anchor Ruth Langsford sent her condolences to the family of her former colleague.

She wrote: “So terribly sad to hear the news of Doctor Michael Mosley’s death. He was a brilliant and utterly charming man. My condolences and love to his family RIP @michaelmosley_official.”

And other stars from the world of showbiz took to social media as they paid their respects after hearing the devastating news.

Mosley, 67, was found just seconds from the safety of a holiday resort on June 9, four days after failing to return from a long walk.

A post-mortem later showed he likely attempted to take a rest in the moments before he died – even propping his legs up on a rock.

The probe revealed the TV star left his phone at his holiday home to prevent it from getting wet on his family’s ferry trip, tragically stopping him from phoning for help.

Buckinghamshire senior coroner Crispin Butler said the cause of Dr Mosley’s death was “unascertainable” but likely linked to searing temperatures of more than 37 degrees in the summer holiday hotspot.

He added that it “was most likely attributable either to heatstroke (accidental) or a non-identified pathological cause”.

The star’s family, including kids Alex, Dan, Jack and Kate, who flew out to help the search effort, all gave evidence confirming details of the trip and the doctor’s mood.

Mr Butler concluded: “On the morning of June 5, (Dr Mosley) travelled to Pedi Beach, arriving late morning.

“Michael had intentionally left his mobile phone back at the house to prevent it getting wet on the ferry.

“Later in the afternoon, Michael decided he was going to walk back home rather than take the ferry.

“He had his rucksack, one litre of water and a biscuit, and had a hat and umbrella.

“Michael was described as looking energetic and cheerful as he set off.”

His body was finally found by journalists just 100 yards from the safety of a restaurant and 150 yards from a spot searched by a 100-person rescue team only days earlier.

Dr Mosley was famed for masterminding the 5:2 diet and fronting documentaries on the BBC.
