Chick-fil-A gets approval for Latham restaurant
LATHAM, N.Y (NEWS10) -- After several years, Chick-fil-A has gotten site plan approval from the Town of Colonie Planning Board to move forward in Latham. The restaurant would be constructed at the former Brick House Tavern + Tap site in Latham Farms at 579 Troy Schenectady Road.
The Chick-fil-A site plans were approved during a planning board meeting on April 22. The planning board found no significant adverse environmental impacts for the construction of the Chick-fil-A. They did say the developers must address all outstanding engineer comments before building permits are issued.
The plans for Chick-fil-A at this location first came before the Town of Colonie Planning Board in August 2021. The plans were stalled due to concerns the planning board had about the traffic. Chick-fil-A resubmitted its plans to the planning board for the same site in November 2024.
The Chick-fil-A site plans call for the demolition of the former Brick House Tavern + Tap building and the construction of a 5,000 square-foot restaurant and about 84 parking spaces. The restaurant would hire 120 to 140 employees and be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The site plans said the construction of the new Chick-fil-A would take about six months to complete after construction starts.
To help address traffic concerns, Chick-fil-A plans to build a single lane roundabout at Erin Street and the Dick's driveway intersection. Plans said signage would restrict left turns at the intersection of Dick's Rear Service Road and Erin Street.
In the Capital Region, Chick-fil-A currently has locations in Albany, Clifton Park, North Greenbush, inside the Albany International Airport, and at the Thruway Service Area in New Baltimore.
