Police investigating Van Vranken shooting as homicide

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A man has died after an afternoon shooting in the city of Schenectady. Police said it happened around 3:24 p.m. Wednesday on Van Vranken Avenue.
Police responded to the 1800-block of Van Vranken Avenue for a report of a man who had been shot. They found a man in his 20s who had been shot in the torso.
He was taken to Ellis Hospital where he later died. His name is not being released until police contact his family.
The shooting appears to be the result of an altercation, according to police. Investigators are speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage.
