Cleveland County judge orders Moore contractor pay restitution to scam victim
MOORE, Okla. (KFOR) — A Moore family was scammed out of thousands of dollars by a local contractor two years ago. They chose to sue and now the contractor has been ordered to pay back funds.
News 4 first spoke to Janet Wills in 2023. She paid nearly $3,000 to Anthony Flores' business, Love It Construction, LLC. She inquired about getting new windows and a glass sliding door installed.
"He said it'd take six-to-eight weeks. Eight weeks came around and I hadn't heard anything, then nine weeks and 10 weeks," said Wills.
Her invoice was paid in full, but Flores disappeared without even starting the job.
Wills said back in 2023, she went on Facebook to see if any other individuals were scammed.
"There were 20 different people that had been scammed $80,000 and $20,000, where he would come and do a little bit of work and take money," Wills said.
In 2023, Lieutenant Wes Yost from the Moore Police Department told News 4, "We had all the probable cause we needed to file charges in Cleveland County."
In April 2023, Flores went to jail on felony charges, including False Pretense, Bogus Check and Con Game.
However, Flores being put behind bars didn't stop Wills from fighting to get her money back.
Wills filed criminal charges against Flores.
In January of this year, an Oklahoma judge ordered Flores to pay up on a schedule over the next three years.
"I got a $74 check that was a restitution payment," Wills said.
By 2028, Wills would have received a full refund amounting to what she initially paid Flores.
Love It Construction LLC, located in the metro is permanently closed. News 4 tried calling Flores and are waiting to hear back.
