NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah expects Bears' Caleb Williams to be top QB from 2024 class
GREEN BAY, Wis. — NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah held court at Lambeau Field. When he was asked about quarterback Cam Ward, the presumptive No. 1 pick for the Titans, he advised against comparing him to the loaded quarterback class last year.
‘‘I don’t know if we’ll see another group like that for some time,’’ Jeremiah said.
Caleb Williams went No. 1 overall to the Bears and was followed by Jayden Daniels to the Commanders and Drake Maye to the Patriots. Six quarterbacks went among the first 12 picks.
Daniels won Rookie of the Year and guided the Commanders to the NFC title game, and the Broncos’ Bo Nix got to the playoffs, too. Williams, meanwhile, was inconsistent as the Bears crashed to 5-12.
None of that, however, changed Jeremiah’s long-term forecast that Williams will be better than Daniels.
‘‘Caleb had the year I expected him to have, where there were high highs and low lows, a little bit of a bumpy ride,’’ he said. ‘‘But you would see moments where this is really exciting. If they could make field goals and not screw things up at the end of games, [people] would be looking at him a lot differently.
‘‘He’s going to be just fine. I’m excited to see what Ben’s going to do with him and how they’re going to develop the offense around him.’’
