What is the movie starring Mario Lopez filmed in WNY about?
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — 'A Christmas Spark' was recently filmed in Western New York and is set to star 'Saved By The Bell' star Mario Lopez.
Lopez has been seen in and around Western New York several times in recent weeks filming the movie. In the film, he plays a middle-aged litigator who leaves his career to become a firefighter with other cadets who are half his age.
Scenes have been filmed at Twin District Fire Company in Lancaster, the Erie County Fire Training Academy, and Revolution Buffalo. Lopez was also seen filming outdoor scenes near North Forest Road in Amherst.
Ali Cobrin, who is best known for her roles in the 2012 and 2014 films 'American Reunion' and 'Neighbors,' as well as the Amazon Prime series 'The Baxter,' is Lopez's co-star in the new movie.
Buffalo has become a bit of a hotspot for movies in recent years. Several movies have been filmed in Western New York which can be attributed to the presence of Great Point Studios, which is known for making TV movies. A Hallmark movie featuring the Buffalo Bills is set to premiere later this year as well.
HGTV has also been keen on Buffalo. An episode of 'House Hunters' that was filmed in Amherst premiered last month.
The movie will premiere on Great American Family in October and will begin streaming on Pure Flix in early November.
