Rick Pitino and St. John’s continue to transform their roster via the portal.
The Red Storm landed a commitment from 6-foot-8 Cincinnati transfer Dillon Mitchell.
The Tampa, Fla. native averaged 9.9 points and 6.9 rebounds last season at Cincinnati after two seasons at Texas. He shot 61% from the field.
Mitchell joins Ian Jackson (UNC), Osiyah Sellers (Stanford), Bryce Hopkins (Providence) and Joson Sanon (Arizona State) in St. John’s transfer portal class, ranked No. 2 by 247Sports.com.
“I am just absolutely over the moon with our offensive potential,” Pitino told the New York Post after the Jackson signing. “I think so far in Year 3, it’s the best lineup we’ve had.
“Now we got to make sure we’re as good defensively [as we were this year], we have to make sure we’re as good offensively as we were the first year. If we combine the two years, then we’ve got something special.”
