Britain’s best family-friendly campsites – with free-roaming wallabies, farm parks & tractor rides from £15 a night
THE TOP-RATED camp sites and glamping sites for families in 2025 has been revealed.
They feature everything from sea views and roaming alpacas, to tractor rides.
The list was compiled by Pitchup.com, and were marked on the child-friendliness and number of reviews.
There are a broad range of sites, from high end shepherds huts to back-to-nature basic pitches.
Hill Farm Camping, Essex
Families love Hill Farm Camping for its free-roaming wallabies, alpacas and Emi the emu.
Owner Alan has also worked hard to make the site a family paradise, with a play area, sandpit, zipline, pitch and putt, archery and tractor and trailer rides.
The campsite is located between Braintree and Saffron Walden in the Essex countryside and it sits on a hill with great views.
The nearest village is approximately a 20-minute walk away and is home to a number of pubs and a small supermarket.
Price per night from £40.
Swallow Farm Campsite, Cheshire
Swallow Farm Campsite in Cheshire is a small farm camping site within a secluded south-facing field with simple facilities, families delight in back-to-basics stays at Swallow Farm.
Kids can spend hours feeding and petting the resident alpacas, goats, sheep, chickens and rabbits, all kept in line by Pips the friendly collie.
The site also has a children’s play area with tennis rackets, space hoppers, footballs and nets.
The campsite is located 20 minutes from Chester and is close to a number of other family attractions including the Ice Cream Farm, which combines the world’s largest ice cream shop with indoor and outdoor play attractions.
Also close-by is the Crocky Trail, which is a mile-long adventure path with slides and rides.
Both attractions are within a 10-minutes’ drive of the campsite.

Easton Farm Park, Suffolk
Located next door to Farm Park with indoor and outdoor play areas and even goat yoga, Easton Farm Park campsite in Suffolk is combines farm life and woodland exploration.
The farm is home to lambs, goats, piglets and a number of interactive sessions, rides, activities and arts and crafts.
The woodland area also sprawls across 30 acres.
The dog-friendly site is about 15 minutes from Woodbridge.
Entrance to Farm Park must be purchased separately and costs £13.95 per person.
Price per night for up to four people from £25 (two-night minimum stay).
Greenfields Campsite, Cheshire
Greenfields Campsite is a cosy holiday spot with 15 camping pitches and a wooden shepherd’s hut looking out across the surrounding farmland.
The hut features a kitchen, bunk beds and a bathroom.
Outside there is also a deck, where families can watch the roaming sheep and admire the sunset.
The village of Lower Peover is about a 15-minute walk away and is home to a shop and two pubs.
Also nearby is Knutsford, which boasts a number of trendy boutiques and several pubs and cafés.
In addition, the hut is dog-friendly and they even get a their own welcome pack of treats, whilst kids get complimentary marshmallows to roast on the campfire.

Field View Luxury Glamping, Hampshire
Field View Luxury Glamping in Hampshire features luxury bell tents situated in a paddock overlooking animals grazing in neighbouring fields.
The peaceful site is also home to a number of sheep and each tent has a barbecue/firepit, outdoor seating and fairy lights.
Inside the tents, there is one kingsize bed and two single beds, comfy chairs, bedside lights, a small fridge, USB chargers and plug sockets.
The tents also each have a bathroom.
Medstead is around a mile away, where guests can find the campsite’s nearest pub and Alton is a 15-minute drive away.

Peak View Gardens, Somerset
Located in Somerset, Peak view Gardens is a campsite on the banks of the River Axe in Lower Weare.
The village location also means that guests are a couple minutes’ walk from a local pub which features a skittle alley.
If guests would prefer to cook their own food, they are allowed to bring along barbeque supplies to use at the site.
The surrounding area boasts a beach, animal parks, Wookey Hole and England‘s smallest city – Wells.

Presaddfed, Anglesey, Wales
Presaddfed in Anglesey, Wales, is around a 15-minute drive from Trearddur Bay Beach and 45 minutes from Snowdonia.
The remote wild campsite sits next to the remains of ancient Neolithic chamber tombs and is a great spot for nature lovers due to the number of woodland walks accessible from the site.
The site is family friendly and is within a 20-minutes’ walk from Bodedern village, which is home to a butcher’s shop, a convenience store and a pub.
On the site there are four private shower rooms, toilets and washing-up facilities.

Campio Andy Camping, Anglesey, Wales
Campio Andy Camping, also in Anglesey, Wales, is a tents-only site in the village of Dwyran.
Snowdonia can be seen from the site in the distance and there is a local beach.
The site is dog-friendly and there is space for barbeques.
The site is situated next to a petrol station, which sells groceries if guests need them and there is a bus stop nearby.
If the weather isn’t too bad, the campsite even puts on a evening falconry display for guests.

Rhea Farm and Fishery, Devon
Spread across 16 acres, Rhea Farm and Fishery campsite is located just two miles from Axminster.
The farm is home to a sizable collection of animals including rheas, emus, ostriches, goats, sheep and a giant tortoise.
The campsite also has a 1.5-acre fishing lake stocked with rudd, tench, barbel and mirror carp where guests can fish for a fee.
Foodies may like to try out telly chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage HQ courses too.

Auchingarrich Wildlife Park, Perthshire, Scotland
Just a 15-minute drive from Crieff, Drummond Castle and Loch Earn, Auchingarrich Wildlife Park campsite allows guests unlimited entry into the park, cafe and play area.
The park is home to a number of meerkats, lemurs, goats, pigs, donkeys and more and the wild-camping site sits next to the park.
There are also a number of ponds and great views of the surrounding countryside.
For children, there is an indoor play barn and an outdoor play area, for when the weather is dry and sunny.
The campsite additionally features a barbecue area for cooking meals outdoors.
Dogs are welcome too, but will need to be kept under control and on a lead at all times.

RCN Vakantiepark de Flaasbloem, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands
Jumping over to the Netherlands now, RCN Vakantiepark de Flaasbloem sits just outside the small town of Chaam and is around half-an-hour from Efteling, which is one of the world’s oldest theme parks.
The site even has a little road rain which journeys around the campsite.
Guests can enjoy a swim in the site’s two-hectare swimming lake, with waterslides and a play area.
A beach offers a good spot to relax with a book or head to the huge grass area to sunbathe.
There is also an indoor pool, a restaurant and a number of acitivities on offer.

Marlie Holiday Park, Kent
Nestled in a rural setting close to the beaches of New Rombet and Dymchurch on the Kent coast, Marlie Holiday Park has an indoor swimming pool, a kid’s club, amusement centre, an adventure playground and resident rabbits.
On the site there is also restaurant and bar with Sky TV and an entertainment venue with evening entertainment.

Old Octon Farm Lodges, East Yorkshire
Old Octon Farm Lodges is a small East Yorkshire glamping site that’s part of a working farm in the village of Octon, 20 minutes from the coast at Bridlington and Filey.
The village is home to several pubs and restaurants to enjoy and Driffield is around 15-minutes away, with a supermarket.
The lodges each feature a kitchenette, dining area and a barbeque outside.
For a touch of luxury, the bathrooms feature rainfall showers and as a welcome gift, each lodge has sparkling wine and chocolates sitting waiting for guest arrival.
The lodges are all family-friendly lodges and dogs are also welcome.

Camping at Hayfield, Cumbria
Five minutes from Ulverston, Bardsea Beach or South Lakes Safari Zoo, Camping at Hayfield is part of a family farm with views across the Lake District.

The site features simple facilities, such as portaloos.

Middlehills Farm Campsite, Derbyshire
Middlehills Farm Campsite in Derbyshire has been a family-run site for over 30 years.
Close to Gullivers Kingdom and a 45-minute drive from Alton Towers, the site is set in 40 acres of countryside in the Peak District National Park.
Onsite, children can be entertained by the opportunity to pet and give treats to pigs and ponies or explore the play park.
Also on the site is a shower and toilet block, two chemical waste points, two washing-up areas and fridge-freezers.

Pilsdon View Camping, Dorset
Pilsdon View Camping in Dorset is an eco-friendly site with an orchard, tyre swing and garden toys to enjoy.

Roselidden House Camping, Cornwall
Roselidden House Camping is a five-acre rural Cornwall campsite with views of the Lizard Peninsula.

Children can even feed the animals for a small fee.

Boasting 20 tent pitches, Didwell Farm Campsite in Devon is within walking distance of the South West Coast Path with a number of beaches.
The site is family-friendly and dog-friendly, as well as barbeque-friendly.
For watersports enthusiasts, Bantham beach is about an hour’s walk away and has surfboards for hire.
The National Trust‘s South Milton Sands is about 40 minutes away, with its famous rock archway.
The market town of Kingsbridge is also nearby, which boasts a number of shops and a supermarket.

Strudda Bank Pod Paddock, Cumbria
With just two fixed luxury pods, Strudda Bank Pod Paddock in Cumbria is a quiet site located 15-minutes from Seascale Beach.
Each pod features an ensuite shower room, mini kitchen and a barbeque/firepit.
The farm is close to Ennerdale, which is one of the Lake District’s wilder and less visited areas.
However, more popular spots like Wast Water and Scafell Pike can also be reached with a drive of half an hour or so.
