Winterhawks win Game 7 thriller; move on to Finals
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The Portland Winterhawks came from behind in the 3rd period of Game 7 to oust the Everett Silvertips and advance to the Western Hockey League Western Conference finals.
The game was scoreless until Everett's Landon Dupont lit the lamp at the 9:57 mark of the 2nd period. Portland tied it with 39 seconds left in the 2nd on a goal from Kyle Chyzowski.
Everett re-took the lead at 3:03 of the 3rd period when Lukas Kaplan scored. But then the Winterhawks turned it on, getting goals from Hudson Darby and Kyle McDonough to take the lead, then an empty-netter from Diego Buttazzoni sealed the 4-2 victory.
Portland now moves on to the WHL Western Conference Finals.
