U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz warned that terrorist groups like ISIS, al-Qaeda, and al-Shabaab are planning attacks against the United States. He stated these groups have developed “plans and schemes” for potential strikes.

In a TV interview on April 22, Waltz emphasized that these groups are actively working to target the U.S., and the U.S. government has been working to dismantle their leadership. He mentioned that the Trump administration has eliminated 74 known terrorist leaders thus far, though he did not provide specific details about the locations or identities of those targeted.

Waltz highlighted the ongoing importance of Afghanistan in counterterrorism efforts, referencing previous reports by The Washington Post. The National Security Advisor explained that terrorist groups in Afghanistan have been attempting to regroup and plan new attacks, similar to the September 11 attacks.
