AUSTIN (KXAN) -- On Tuesday, the Austin Police Department identified the man whose body was recovered from Lake Austin at Emma Long Metropolitan Park late Sunday.
That man was identified as Angel Savarin. He was pronounced dead just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
APD said a witness called just before 7 p.m. to report a swimmer had gone underwater and never resurfaced.
Officers responded to 1600 City Park Road and talked to the witness. Within an hour, a dive team was called to locate the missing swimmer, police said.
No other details were provided, and APD said it has an open and ongoing investigation into Savarin's death.
