Temperature rebound expected around Portland Tuesday
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A frosty morning for some will turn sunny and warm for most as spring heat builds around the Pacific Northwest this week.
Mostly sunny skies Tuesday will help warm Willamette Valley temperatures into the mid-60s. Tuesday's warmer weather is the start of Portland's next warming trend. Temperatures will continue to climb through Thursday with highs nearing 80 for some.
Rain is expected to remain absent from the forecast through Thursday. Rain chances aren't expected to return until cooler temperatures arrive Friday and Saturday -- and the rain is needed as Portland's rain deficit closes in on almost an inch-and-a-half for April.
Warming temperatures and rain-free skies will allow Portland's pollen count to rise in the coming days. Keeping windows shut, using air purifiers, and taking doctor recommended allergy medication is your best defense on rising pollen counts.
The peak of Portland's heat this week will come Thursday as temps reach nearly 80 degrees. A stronger round of rain and cooler temperatures will put an end to the warming trend Friday. Scattered showers are expected to last through the weekend.
