Aldi brings out garden ornament to help transform your space into an exotic paradise

ALDI shoppers are rushing to bag a bargain garden buy that could give your outdoor space a glow-up for just £9.99.

The budget supermarket has dropped its Solar Marrakesh Lantern, promising to bring an exotic touch your garden this summer.

Aldi is selling a stylish solar powered Marrakesh lantern for just £9.99
ALDI

Landing in stores this Thursday, April 24, the stunning lantern comes in a choice of copper or gold.

The lantern is also solar powered so you won’t need to worry about changing the batteries or charging it up

With cut-out detailing that throws out eye-catching shadows as the sun sets, it’s set to be a must-have summer essential.

At just £9.99, it’s the cheapest of its kind on the high street.

Rival stores including The Range and Robert Dyas are selling similar Marrakesh lanterns for £13.99 and £14.99.

Even Amazon, which offers Prime delivery, lists comparable models for £13.

But Aldi’s version is only available in stores, so shoppers will need to head down to their local branch to grab one.

It’s worth calling ahead, as stock is expected to fly off shelves.

It’s also worth checking rival supermarkets and comparing prices to make sure you’re getting the best value for money.

The lantern, which includes a white LED light, is part of Aldi’s new Specialbuys garden range launching this week.

The range has already caused a stir online, with shoppers praising the supermarket for bringing back viral favourites including the Rattan Effect Corner Sofa, priced at £199.99, and the Marrakesh Bistro Set, available for £69.99.

As the warmer weather arrives, Aldi is helping customers prep their gardens without breaking the bank.

Other new additions include the Decorative Glass Table, £14.99, XL Outdoor Rug, £7.99, and Olive Planters, starting from £4.99.

For lighting up those summer nights, the Solar Water Fountain at £49.99 and the stylish Fire Bowl Globe, £59.99, are also back in stock.

And for those looking for a bigger glow-up, there’s the Solar XL Penzance Lantern at £19.99 and the Solar Star Lantern, £7.99.

But it’s the Solar Marrakesh Lantern that’s grabbing the spotlight this week, adding an exotic ambience to garden tables or hanging spaces for less than a tenner.

As always with Aldi’s Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone, so you’ll have to act fast if you’re hoping to snap one up.

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.

Here are some that we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
  • Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
  • Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
  • CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

How to save money at Aldi

If you’re heading in store to snap up some garden bargains, we’ve also got some money-saving tips to reduce your shopping bill at the discount supermarket.

Firstly, you’re going to want to keep an eye out for yellow stickers

Like other supermarkets, Aldi adds coloured stickers to products that are damaged or misshapen, or coming to the end of their best before date.

But, unlike other supermarkets, it uses red stickers instead of the typical yellow.

When reductions are made on products varies from branch to branch, but red stickers usually appear on items at the end of the day.

It’s also worth opting for Aldi’s own-brand products rather than branded ones and they’re often much cheaper.

Aldi offers cheap fruit and veg as part of its Everyday Essentials range. for example, including discounted wonky bundles.

The trick, known as “downshifting”, applies in other supermarkets too and can save you hundreds of pounds a year.

Keep an eye out for Aldi’s Too Good to Go bags of fresh food too. They cost £3.30 and come with £10 worth of food inside.

You can pick them up in stores but there are only a limited amount each day. Find out more here.
