Draft Insider Believes Two Top Prospects Will Fall To Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have 72 hours left to determine how they will approach the top of the 2025 draft. GM Ryan Poles and his front office often run a series of mock drafts to get a feel for how the picks ahead of them could play out. They would then examine the probabilities to determine who they have a good chance of landing, thus informing the decision to trade up, trade down, or stay put. That was how they determined their chances of getting Rome Odunze at #9 last year were good. It panned out just as they hoped.

Now, who do they think could fall to them at #10 on Thursday? Around this time, the accurate information regarding the 1st round starts surfacing. Longtime draft insider Todd McShay reached out to several friends and contacts around the league to get a feel for where things could be heading. He has reached a conclusion that has shocked him. Due to some movement in the middle of the top 10 with Jacksonville (#5) and Las Vegas (#6), there is now a realistic outcome where two of the best prospects in the entire class could slip to Chicago.

He laid out the entire scenario on The Rich Eisen Show.

The Chicago Bears need three things to happen.

First and foremost, they must resist the urge to trade up. Poles almost did so last year for Odunze. It is clear that teams are trying to generate a market. Reports suggest Jacksonville is one of them. Standing firm at #10 is key. Next, they need the recent reports from ESPN to be true. Adam Schefter stated the Jaguars are leaning towards taking Arizona’s Tet McMillan, the top wide receiver in the class. Next, they need the Raiders, the heavy favorite, to take Ashton Jeanty to either go with an edge rusher or an offensive tackle. If this plays out, the road for Jeanty and Tyler Warren to reach #10 becomes far wider.

New York, Carolina, and New Orleans don’t have pressing needs for a running back. That means Jeanty has good odds of getting there. As for Warren, the only team to worry about is the Jets at #7. They’re rumored to like the tight end a lot and may wish to get another weapon for Justin Fields. That said, McShay said they might be leaning towards an edge rusher or cornerback. If that happens, neither Carolina nor New Orleans will likely take him.

Just like that, the Chicago Bears have arguably the two best offensive prospects in the entire draft sitting on the board for them to choose from.
