Nationwide Children's mental health program has new name, same mission
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Nearly a year ago, Nationwide Children’s Hospital announced big changes to its On Our Sleeves initiative.
Now, a year later, the program aimed at aiding youth mental health is operating under a new name, but with the same mission.
The program now operates under the new name of The Kids Mental Health Foundation.
Executive Clinical Director Dr. Ariana Hoet said the new name and branding encompassed what the team did daily - providing free resources about children’s mental health.
In the last year, the team has reached 10 million lives with free resources. The foundation is now in three million classrooms and has teacher kits in 1,000 classrooms.
“So, before we were The Kids Mental Health Foundation, we were in all 50 states,” Hoet said. “People didn’t quite know what we did, so this new name allows us to immediately lean in.”
Hoet said not only is her team reflecting on how far they’ve come, but they are also looking forward, explaining that the next project will include spreading resources to include military-connected families.
