‘British man lynched by mob who hauled him out of police station and burnt him alive’ after he was arrested in Ecuador
A MAN has reportedly been burned to death by a wild mob after he was arrested in Ecuador.
The furious group lynched the man – understood to be British – after storming the police station where he was being held, according to local media.
He was taken into custody by the locals after being suspected of shooting another person dead, it is reported.
But just after a few hours of being detained at the police station, the locals reportedly set the man on fire in front of cops.
Major Ecuadorian newspaper Ecuavisa said the horrific killing happened in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve in Ecuador’s Amazon region – a popular tourist spot.
Another media outlet Extra reported that cops decided not to intervene when the mob forced their way into the police station before allegedly burning the man to death.
A local TV station reported: “In the early hours of Sunday, April 20, in the parish of Playas de Cuyabeno, at the closure of an event that took place for the anniversary of the Kichwa community, an incident occurred where, as a result, two people died.
“Those two people were a community member from the area and another person of British nationality who died due to the severity of his burns.”
The Ecuadorian man killed has been named locally as Rodrigo Chavez.
It was not immediately clear if anyone had been arrested after the death of the man.
The Sun has reached out to the Foreign Office for comment.
Meanwhile, a Brit was found dead in Spain in suspicious circumstances.
Heartbroken mum Sandra Adams believes her son Brett Dryden, 35, was killed after he was found with a four-inch gash to his head.
Cops say Brett died of natural causes despite pleas from Sandra to investigate the case further to reveal what she believes may be the truth.
A grieving Sandra, who returned to the spot where her son’s body was discovered this week, now claims the case could be a major police cover-up.
Brett, 35, had lived in the small town of Mojacar, in Andalusia, for five years while running a legal cannabis club called The Dawg House.
The father-of-one was found dead in his resort home on the Costa Almeria on July 22 of last year.
His friends allege police officers initially told them Brett was killed in a “violent murder” due to an axe attack.
It comes after a Brit backpacker was tragically killed in a horrific hit-and-run with a truck.
The man, 40, lost control of his motorbike when he collided with a truck carrying construction materials in Cambodia.
He was reportedly thrown from his seat and crushed under the wheels of the trailer.
The truck driver is understood to have fled the scene after the accident.
Passing motorists pulled over and called the emergency services
Cops arrived at the scene and found the Brit lying dead in a pool of blood on the dusty ground.
