Troy diner looking to open second location at Saratoga County Airport
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Alexis Diner in Troy is making moves to open a new location in Saratoga County by the end of this year. The business is looking to expand into Saratoga County Airport.
The restaurant, which would be named Alexi's at the Airport Inc., comes as Saratoga County Airport undergoes a major reconstruction project aimed at improving passenger experience. Construction plans include a new terminal and adjoining aircraft hanger as well as clean energy improvements.
According to Alexis Diner owner Alexi Lekkas, the new restaurant location would sit at the second floor corner of the newly-built airport addition, overlooking the runway. The space, he said, would be smaller than the diner's Troy location, with 86 seats including the bar. In the summer, the restaurant would open up a balcony that can accommodate 40 or so additional customers.
In terms of food, the new diner location would feature many of the traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner items that Alexis Diner offers in Troy. Although the new menu would not be quite as extensive as the one offered at its primary space, Lekkas told NEWS10, the diner will still be committed to providing "outstanding customer service and quality food for reasonable prices."
Lekkas hopes to open the new restaurant location by October. The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors will be holding a public hearing on the diner's proposed lease agreement on May 13. If approved, Alexi's at the Airport Inc. will be the sole provider of food services at the airport.
Alexis Diner is located in Troy at 294 N Greenbush Road in Troy. The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. through 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. on Sundays.
