April showers, cooler temps return to Portland for the holiday weekend
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- April showers return as cooler spring-like temperatures return to the greater Portland, Vancouver area on Easter weekend.
Saturday morning's weak cold front will start the weekend off slightly cooler and cloudier with a few scattered showers. Temperatures will fall nearly 10-15 degrees from Friday's highs in the mid to upper 70s. Willamette Valley residents can expect highs in the mid-60s on Saturday afternoon as sunnier skies return to the region by the afternoon.
Temperatures will continue to fall on Easter Sunday around Portland as the wet weather potential increases. A mostly dry start to Easter Sunday should leave those hunting for eggs dry, but afternoon showers will keep temperatures cool.
Rain accumulation throughout the weekend will only amount to a couple of one-hundredths of an inch. The greatest rain accumulation will occur along the coast with nearly a tenth of an inch possible.
Scattered snow showers could bring an additional 1-3 inches of snow to the Mt. Hood area. This comes after a week of melting at higher elevations.
A few light and scattered rain showers are expected across the Pacific Northwest at the start of the new week. Temperatures will slowly rebound as skies dry by the middle of next week. Afternoon highs will likely warm into the low 70s by Wednesday as sunny skies return to the Pacific Northwest.
