At least 50 killed in latest Israeli Airstrike on Gaza
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed at least 50 people, mostly civilians, with death tolls surpassing 61,000 amid ongoing conflict.
Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have killed at least 50 people, mostly civilians, according to health sources. The bombings targeted multiple locations across Gaza, including Khan Younis and Jabalia.
Al Jazeera reported on Friday, April 18, that a single strike in Khan Younis resulted in the death of a 10-member family, underscoring the severe civilian toll of ongoing military operations.
The Gaza Health Ministry stated that more than 51,000 people have been killed and over 116,000 injured since the beginning of the war 18 months ago. These figures continue to rise amid unrelenting bombardments.
Gaza’s Government Media Office estimates the total death toll to exceed 61,000, noting that thousands of others remain trapped beneath the rubble and are still unaccounted for.
The United Nations has issued a warning about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stressing that fuel and humanitarian supplies are nearing depletion due to the ongoing Israeli blockade.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Palestinian man died in an Israeli prison during Palestinian Prisoners Day events, adding to tensions surrounding detainee rights and conditions.
The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel that killed at least 1,139 Israelis and resulted in the abduction of over 200 individuals. The war has raged on ever since.
With growing international concern and calls for ceasefire, humanitarian agencies urge both sides to protect civilians and ensure access to aid, especially as Gaza teeters on the brink of collapse.
