Live, boiled crawfish prices drop for Easter weekend
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Easter weekend is here, and according to The Crawfish App, it’s the “Super Bowl Sunday” of crawfish season.
This weekend, vendors are expected to sell more crawfish than at any other time of the year. The good news? Prices are going down.
According to The Crawfish App, the average price of both live and boiled crawfish has dropped by about $0.05 per pound. Right now, you can find a sack of live crawfish for around $3 per pound, with medium-to-large mixes running about $0.10 more.
Boiled crawfish are averaging around $5.50 per pound across Louisiana—good news for fans planning backyard boils.
“Consumer demand is stronger than ever, especially with this gorgeous spring weather,” said Laney King, co-founder of The Crawfish App. “We’re thrilled to see crawfish prices didn’t increase like they historically do the week of Easter.”
This marks the second week in a row that prices have trended downward. But if you haven’t ordered yet, act fast.
“We’ve heard from many vendors that they’ve already stopped taking orders for Easter weekend. They’re sold out,” King said. “So if you haven’t reserved your sack, scan The Crawfish App now to find the best deal and get yours reserved now!”
