ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- It's finally Friday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says temperatures will be in the high 60s, with warmer weather continuing through the weekend. Rain, however, is expected later tonight and on Saturday.
One person was killed and another was injured in a Thursday night shooting in Schenectady. Also, the state Supreme Court began hearing arguments on the St. Clare’s Hospital pension fund. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Friday, April 18.
1. 1 injured, 1 killed in Schenectady shooting
Police are investigating after two people were shot Thursday evening in the city of Schenectady. The incident took place around 7:20 p.m. on Northend Drive.
2. Abandoned dogs rescued in Schodack thriving two months later
The Schodack Police Department shared an update on Wednesday about two dogs that were found abandoned and mistreated on Schuurman Road back in February. Both dogs, Izzy and Sasha, have made major turnarounds and are now in good health.
3. Group vandalizes Amsterdam Clock Tower
A group of people entered the Amsterdam Clock Tower building on Monday and set off a fire extinguisher. Security footage shows someone in the group grab a fire extinguisher off the wall and spray it all over.
4. Local teen hatches scheme to get date for prom
Keaghan Kline and Vincent Dragonetti have only been dating for a couple of weeks. But Vincent decided to take the relationship to a different level. He wanted to ask her to the junior prom.
5. State Supreme Court hearing on St. Clare’s Hospital pension fund
For the last seven years, former employees of the St. Clare’s Hospital have been fighting in court, wondering if they’ll ever get their pensions. We were there Thursday morning when they arrived at the Schenectady County Supreme Court.
