Albany man sentenced in gun possession case
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- An Albany man was sentenced to seven years in state prison for carrying an illegal, loaded handgun in September. According to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, Corey Martin, 46, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to gun charges.
On September 12, officers stopped Martin on foot near Quail and West Streets during an ongoing investigation. Officers said he was found with a loaded handgun during the stop.
He was charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Martin pleaded guilty to the second-degree criminal possession of a weapon charge.
According to the DA's office, he had three prior felonies, including drug possession and distribution charges, at the time of his arrest.
In addition to prison, Martin was sentenced to five years of post-release supervision. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty of the Major Crimes Unit.
