Heung-min Son reacts to Tottenham win over Frankfurt with 11-word celebration
Heung-min Son did not feature in Tottenham’s 1-0 quarter-final win over Frankfurt, but the club captain made sure his presence was still felt with a passionate message to his teammates after the final whistle.
Tottenham Hotspur‘s 1-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night at the Deutsche Bank Stadium is a victory the Spurs players can be proud of.
It was a result that showed, when needed, this group can dig deep, do the ugly stuff, and see out a game, with moments where they simply had to hold firm and weather the storm.
While the result was the cherry on top, it was far from plain sailing, as Spurs had a few bumps to navigate throughout the 90 minutes.
Heung-min Son sends a message after Tottenham’s win vs Frankfurt
First, early in the game, Tottenham had to make an enforced change just before half-time, with James Maddison taken off after a nasty head collision with Santos, the Frankfurt goalkeeper.
Before the clash, things looked to be coming together nicely on the injury front, with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Kevin Danso returning, but Spurs were hit with a fresh blow.
Heung-min Son, the club’s captain, suffered a foot problem and didn’t even make the trip to Germany. It has since been revealed that Postecoglou and the club’s medical staff decided to leave the forward back in London.
However, after the final whistle at Deutsche Bank Park, the wide forward took to Instagram to share a message with his teammates. He wrote on his Instagram story: “So proud of all of you!! Well done!! Let’s keep going.”
Of course, Heung-min Son was a big miss, but Mathys Tel, who came in for the club’s captain, impressed against Frankfurt. The young Frenchman looked very threatening going forward, and pulled his weight defensively too.

Tottenham need to push on now and ride this wave of momentum if they’re serious about going all the way in this competition.
Up next in the semi-final for Spurs is Bodo/Glimt, a Norwegian side that pulled off one of the shocks of the round by dumping out Lazio on penalties.
While Son missed this big night in Germany, the Korean forward will be desperate to be back for the first leg of the semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 1 May 2025.
