The Plaza Hotel offers a luxurious pet package, making it a dog's paradise
NEW YORK (PIX11) – The Luxurious Plaza Hotel, long the pinnacle of hospitality to the highest echelon of society, and to members of the canine set.
The Plaza has been a haven for pampered pooches since 1907, offering a special package for guests checking in with their beloved pets.
Sam Ioannidis, Managing Director of the Plaza, smiles as he declares, “We love dogs, people travel with their dogs. It’s part of an extension of their family, a part of their family.”,
The Plaza's pampered pet package continues to roll out the red carpet for its four-legged guests,l including a customized bathrobe to keep their tails wagging. There’s a Plaza-branded Evian water bowl to keep them well hydrated.
There’s a doggie treat tier filled with dog-friendly macarons. And if your pet has special dietary needs, Ioannnidis says, “We carry some dog foods that are popular, but guests have special needs for their dogs, and our chefs will prepare some broiled chicken with vegetables with a pet menu, so to speak."
A day in New York can be exhausting, and once settled in the palatial suite, a Plaza-branded bed awaits your pooch. But bet your bottom dollar he’ll end up in a more comfy bed with you.
Sales & Marketing Director Crystal Laurence maintains, “We truly welcome your dog as an additional guest. The Plaza doesn’t have limitations. No additional fees for the dog. It's the way we welcome a child, and there’s no weight limitation on the dog.”
There is a $250 fee for the special pamper pup package, which includes a greeting card from the Grand Dame of the Plaza, the legendary Eloise.
In 1940, Life Magazine did a feature on pets coming to the Plaza, a tradition that continues today.
Laurence notes, "One policy we have is that dogs not be left alone by themselves. We are very careful about noise pet may have to offend guests. We offer pet sitters. Pet sitters is an agency we call if you want to go to dinner. They will have someone come in and stay with your dog, just like a babysitter.”
In the hotel's boutique, there is a section to accommodate dogs' needs, including dog shampoo, a bowl to hold treats, and a dog refreshener, which is sort of like a perfume for your dog.
Laurence insists, “The dog environment is really lovely. We truly love to see when dogs are coming. We’re excited."
The worst part of a vacation is having to leave your pup at home. Fortunately, now it's PAWS-able to bring Fido along. There are plenty of dog-friendly hotels like the Plaza ready to welcome your canine with open arms.
