Local teen hatches scheme to get date for prom
LENOX, Mass. (NEWS10) -- Keaghan Kline and Vincent Dragonetti have only been dating for a couple of weeks. But Vincent decided to take the relationship to a different level. He wanted to ask her to the junior prom.
The Lenox High School senior enlisted the help of the school's trusty SRO, (school resource officer), William Colvin. Colvin is also a Lenox police officer. "He wanted to ask Keaghan to go to the prom, but he wanted to do it in a kind of special different way," said Colvin.
Vincent had an idea only Colvin could do. "If we can do a pretend motor vehicle stop where I come up, approach him and say you were speeding," said Colvin. He adds, "Then at one point, I come back and say, 'I need to talk to you at my cruiser because there's an issue with his driver's license.'"
Vincent had it all planned out. "We had a plan to go shopping, and so that's what I thought we were doing," said Kline. Sure enough, Colvin pulled him over, and the rest of scheme played out.
While Vincent was in the back seat of the cruiser, Keaghan was asked by Colvin to approach his vehicle. That's when Vincent came out with a sign that read, "Would you arrest me and take me away to prom instead?"
Keaghan said yes and was relieved her prom date wasn't in trouble with the law.
