Nathan Littauer nurses speak about staffing concerns
GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Nurses at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville spoke out on Thursday to demand a contract that could help address the hospital's staffing shortage. New York State Nursing Association nurses said they are advocating for a staffing plan to recruit and retain nurses at the hospital.
The union has been in negotiation with the hospital for months after their contract expired at the end of 2024. Nurses said the longer issues persist, the greater impact it will have on patient care.
"We need nurses at the bedside so we can continue to care for our patients, so we can continue to offer future care and deliver future babies for this community," RN Wendy Bowie said.
In addition to higher wages and increased staffing, the nurses are calling for low cost healthcare.
The hospital has presented the union with what they call their "final offer." NEWS10 reached out to the hospital for comment but has not heard back.
