Paultons Park reveals first look at new £3.5million ride opening next month

PAULTONS Park is opening their new multi-million pound ride next month – and we’ve been given a first look.

Ghostly Manor is the theme park’s new indoor dark ride, based on the fictional paranormal investigator Dr Kinley.

Passengers will use ‘phasers’ to capture ghosts[/caption]

The ride, which goes throughout his house, has five minutes of “game-play” with interactive experiences along the way.

Boarding eight-seater carriages, guests will have “phantom phasers” to try and catch ghosts and spirits as they drive through.

At the end of the ride, passengers will be given a score on how many ghosts they caught.

Guests aged five and above can go on the ride with an adult, although kid eight and above can ride solo.

Set to cost around £3.5million, the ride will open in time for the the half-term holidays on May 17.

James Mancey, deputy managing director at Paultons Park, said: “Ghostly Manor is set to become a spooky standout at Paultons Park and we’re incredibly excited to see our guests put their ghost hunting skills to the test.

“We have worked with the very best technical and theming experts in the attractions business to create a unique, memorable family ride experience.

“Our teams and partners have done a remarkable job at creating our very own haunted house, brimming with entertaining paranormal activity.

“Ghostly Manor really does look like it’s always been part of Paultons Park, and I’m sure it’s going to be an enormous hit
with our guests!”

Last year, the park opened a dinosaur-themed water ride.

Splash Lagoon takes passengers through water rapids before going down a water flume into a “prehistoric” lagoon.

And opening at Paultons next year will be a viking-themed land.

Little else is known about the new land in regards to new rides or attractions, with a 2026 opening date to be confirmed.

One of the most famous lands in the theme park is Peppa Pig World, which has since spawned similar lands in the US and Europe.

The land is based on the famous kids’ TV show and has a number of gentle rides for younger kids.

Ghostly Manor isn’t the only new theme park ride coming to the UK.

Why is Paultons Park good for younger kids?

The Sun’s Head of Travel (Digital), Caroline McGuire explains why Paultons Park is one of her favourite places for a family day out…

As a mum of a five year old, it’s by far my favourite theme park and
the short queues are a huge part of that.

We didn’t have any kind of queue jump pass and to be honest, we
never felt like we needed one.

A lot of the time, we’d wait about two minutes to get on a really great attraction – and that was on a weekend too, so it’s great for youngsters with short attention spans.

Undoubtedly the big draw of the park is Peppa Pig World and everyone, myself included, heads straight there when they first arrive.

But I’d recommend getting out of there after a couple of rides and
checking out the rest of the park, where the attractions are just as good.

One of my favourite little details is that they have a load of those
very annoying stationary rides that you find outside supermarkets,
which your child will inevitably pester you to spend £3 on – but at
Paultons they’re free!

My son rode a fire engine for about 40 minutes straight, so it’s very easy to keep little ones entertained throughout the theme park.

Next year, a new £8million Gyro Swing ride will open at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort.

Set to be the tallest of its kind in the UK, passengers will reach highs of 138ft.

Dreamland in Margate will reopen its log flume ride this summer, after closing back in 2016.

In Europe, Disney-alternative theme park Efteling will be opening a free-fall ride.

And The Sun’s Head of Travel was one of the first to experience the new Epic Universe in Florida ahead of it’s opening in May.

If you can wait until 2031, here is everything we know about the Universal theme park opening in the UK.
