Spring is here: Brooklyn Botanic Garden's cherry blossoms flourish
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Spring sunshine is in full swing for the remainder of the week, with temperatures expected to soar into the 80s on Saturday.
The unseasonably warm weather marks the perfect opportunity to admire the stunning pink and white petals of Magnolia Plaza's cherry blossoms in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
The early-blooming specimens have just blossomed, with sixteen kinds of cherries now in flower.
According to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's cherry blossom tracker, many trees are in peak bloom around the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, including the Pendula Rosea, also known as the weeping higan cherry.
Visitors can join a free seasonal highlight tour led by trained Garden Guides from 1 to 2 p.m. daily. The free walk begins at Magnolia Plaza at the building steps.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The last entry is half an hour before closing.
