Arrest made in Rotterdam stabbing investigation
ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Rotterdam Police announced that an arrest was made after an investigation into a stabbing on April 12. Jason Melendez, 40, of Schenectady, was charged with second-degree assault.
Melendez is accused of stabbing a man in the torso during a fight near Sliderz Bar and Grill on Guilderland Avenue in Rotterdam around 4 a.m. on Saturday. The victim was transported to Ellis Hospital to be treated for their injuries and was last listed in stable condition.
During the investigation, Melendez was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody on Wednesday night. He was later sent to the Schenectady County Jail for holding prior to being arraigned. Police stated that Melendez is currently on parole.
