Abandoned dogs rescued in Schodack thriving two months later
SCHODACK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Schodack Police Department shared an update on Wednesday about two dogs that were found abandoned and mistreated on Schuurman Road back in February. Both dogs, Izzy and Sasha, have made major turnarounds and are now in good health.
Izzy, a German Shepherd younger than six months old, now lives with Schodack Police Chief Ralph Southworth and his family. She's described as a happy pup who enjoys belly rubs and chewing on sneakers.
Sasha, a one-year-old Akita, is in great shape and is up for adoption. She's being cared for by Albany-based non-profit animal advocacy and rescue group Out of the Pits. Anyone interested in opening their home to Sasha can visit her profile on the organization's website.
22-year-old Jasmine McDonald of Gloversville was arrested on February 19 in connection to the dogs' abandonment. Schodack Police commended Officer Justin Kelley and Dog Control Officer Maggie Simmons for their work on the case.
