Solar energy project being introduced to Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A new energy source is coming to Albany. The New York Power Authority and the city are going to co-develop a new solar energy project at the North Albany/Shaker Park landfill.
The new solar farm is estimated to be completed in 2027, powering the equivalent of more than 200 homes. This is a part of NYPA's Renewable Energy Access and Community Help, lowering energy costs for low to moderate income Albany and surrounding area residents.
The Power Authority will construct the solar project.
