Mariners Reacts Survey: Time Fixes Everything
The Mariners seem to finally be coming together, maybe all it took was a little patience
You know, at this time last week, things were looking pretty bleak for our beloved Mariners. The offense was nonexistent, the bullpen was inconsistent, and the pitching was just doing their best. A familiar feeling of disappointment hung over us, much like the rain clouds hang over Seattle. Things have, for the most part, turned around since then. In particular, Randy Arozarena has suddenly started hitting like the player we thought he was, but more on that later.
For now, let’s discuss the general feelings about the team’s place from last week. Based on the team's current position, we used FanDuel predicted win totals to see if the fans here were thinking along the same lines as the people at FanDuel. Are the Mariners going to win over or under 82.5 games this year?
The overwhelming response was under. While I’m sure many of you have shifted your minds since then, this initial response is not a shock to me. Honestly, I think it’s probably too soon to tell. Now, a large part of the Mariners’ sudden improvement in performance has been guys performing at a higher level than they did last year. I’m cautious to call this a turnaround or even the norm because the Mariners have been streaky at best throughout my life. Still, seeing the offense seemingly clicking right now for the first time in a long while is nice. A major part of that has been Randy Arozarena. While I don’t think he’s “hot” per se, I think we can all see he’s getting on base more, having better contact, and overall being a positive presence in the lineup. The real question is, can he maintain this pace? Let us know what you think in the poll and the comments below.
Speaking of flashes in the pan, we also asked last week about the often forgotten Dominic Canzone. Canzone was called up to fill in for Robles who is off to the IR for a separated shoulder. Now since then Canzone was actually sent back down, this should come as a shock to less then 10% of you because those are the only ones who thought Canzone was gonna hang in there.
